What else can I do to clean and keep my tongue clean?
Sometimes tongue infections are so stubborn that a total approach is needed
- Brush the tongue with JuliBrite Tongue Cleaner and Gel.
- Rinse and polish your mouth with cleansing mouthwash, such as Julibrite Mouthwash.
- Keep the mouth hydrated. For example, use Moist-R Dry
- Mouth Tablets or Moist-R spray.
- Make sure mucus from the nose does not move to the tongue. You can prevent this with TonsilFresh Nasal Sinus Drops.
- Refresh the tongue during the day with the Moist-R tongue spray. This way you create a cleansing, but also a protective layer on your tongue that keeps new deposits at bay.
What is the best way to use JuliBrite Tongue Gel?
- First brush your teeth with an OXI2 + zinc-based dental gel such as RyttPro®️.
- Moisten your tongue with water and apply the gel to the flat part of the JuliBrite®️ tongue scraper.
- Spread the JuliBrite tongue gel on the back part of your tongue.
- Leave the gel on for at least 30-40 seconds.
- Then clean your tongue with the JuliBrite tongue cleaner by gently moving the bristles from back to front across the tongue. This moves the tarnish to the surface (do not use your toothbrush as the bristles are too hard).
- Now pull the tarnish off your tongue with the scraping part of your tongue scraper until you see no more tarnish. Spit out the residue. Rinse the tongue cleaner under the hot tap (can also go in the dishwasher).
- Rinse your mouth with mouthwash, such as RyttPro®️ or JuliBrite®️. Both of these mouthwashes will keep your tongue nice and clean.

- Does tongue cleaning really make sense?
Yes, it has been scientifically proven that tongue cleaning can remove tarnish from the tongue and remove bacteria. This can be read, for example, in this study and also in this one.
- Which remedies work best against a dirty tongue
There are three: essential oils, zinc or cetylpyridium chloride (CPC). You read about it in this study. JuliBrite tongue gel contains two of these three agents, zinc and cetylpyridium chloride (CPC).
- Does the foul smell from my mouth actually come from my tongue?
It is estimated that about 85-90% of cases of foul breath (halitosis) come from the mouth. Of these, half come from the tongue, this study shows. So cleaning your tongue pays off.
- Can't I just use my toothbrush to clean my tongue?
